Achievements, scientific and teaching activities:
For the first time in Russia, he introduced sclerotherapy of varicose veins of the lower extremities with preparations of the etoxysclerol type (1993).

For the first time in the international surgical practice, he introduced the plasma flow apparatus (1997).

He was the first in Russia to perform liver autotransplantation (so-called "adjacent table liver resection" or "Pichlmaier operation") (1999).

For the first time in Russia and Europe, he performed pancreatic stump extirpation surgery for pancreatic cancer recurrence after previously performed pancreatoduodenal resection (2008).

For the first time in Russia, he performed a modified Applebi operation for distal pancreatic cancer (2011).

For the first time in Russia, he began to develop so-called cytoreductive liver surgery - a separate new field in surgical treatment of advanced malignant (primary and secondary) liver tumors, including installation of vascular "ports" for conducting prolonged regional intraarterial chemotherapy.

He has authored more than 200 publications, 155 of which have been published abroad. Participated in scientific forums as a speaker in 80 congresses, of which 60 were held abroad. Teaching lectures in Luxembourg, Egypt, Austria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Teaching lectures to Russian doctors, residents and graduate students on general surgical problems, problems of surgery of liver, pancreas, biliary ducts, hepatitis and AIDS, as well as other infectious processes relevant to surgery and problems of new directions in oncology.
