Expert-class diagnostics
Doctors and candidates of medical science
In-house Swiss laboratory
Oncology is a medical field concerned with diagnosing, treating and preventing malignant neoplasms. Experienced oncologists work at Medincentre, who employ modern methods of diagnostics, including CT-scans, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray, endoscopy as well as conduct morphological diagnostics of tumours
Signs for consulting a specialist
Signs of an oncological disease can vary depending on the type and placement of the tumor. Nevertheless, a number of common symptoms exist, that are common to most malignant processes:
-
Persistent weakness and fatigue
-
Unexplained weight loss
-
Prolonged low-grade fever (37–38°C)
-
Pale skin
-
Reduced or absent appetite
-
Recurring pain of unknown origin
-
Persistent cough or shortness of breath
-
Bloody discharge
-
Unusual skin growths
If the symptoms listed above persist for long periods of time you need to immediately consult with a doctor.

Diagnosing cancer at Medincentre
A full examination is conducted at Medincentre to detect oncological diseases with the use of modern hardware methods:
-
Ultrasound — a safe and informative examination that allows to detect tumors in soft tissue, abdominal organs, thyroid glands and breasts.
-
MRI — a highly accurate method that provides detailed images of organs and tissues, helping to assess the structure of a tumour and its spread.
-
CT — layered scanning with contrast to detect even small lesions in the lungs, brain, bones, and other organs.
-
X-ray — used for the initial diagnosis of lung, bone, and chest pathologies.
- Endoscopy — includes gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy, allowing visualisation of gastrointestinal and respiratory tract tumours, as well as performing a biopsy.
Tests for oncology at Medincentre
In our in-house Russian-Swiss lab precise analyses for diagnosing cancer are conducted. We provide:
-
Biopsy: tissue sampling for histological examination followed by microscopic analysis
-
Smear test: cytological analysis of mucous membranes to detect atypical cells
-
Scraping: examination of cellular material from the surface of the skin and mucous membranes

What are the first symptoms of cancer?
You should be concerned if you:
-
Inexplicably lose weight (more than 5 kg in a short time)
-
Have high temperature for long periods of time (37-37,5°C without causes)
-
Feel lumps in the breast, on the skin, or mucous membranes
-
See blood in urine or stool, chronic coughing with blood
-
Persistent ulcers and sudden weakness
These symptoms do not always suggest cancer, but require urgent examination.
How to check for cancer?
At Medincentre the following procedures are available:
-
Screening programmes (mammography, lung CT)
-
Blood tests (tumour markers, genetic tests)
-
Instrumental diagnostics (MRI, CT, ultrasound with biopsy)
-
Histology for suspicious growths
After the age of 40 a yearly check-up is recommended.
Do you need to take tests on oncomarkers?
Oncomarkers are proteins that can heighten in the presence of malignant tumors. However their results are not always clear:
-
When to take tests?
-
If you suspect cancer (in combination with an ultrasound, MRI and biopsy)
-
To control treatment in already diagnosed patients
-
As part of screening for high genetic risk (e.g., a family history of breast or prostate cancer)
-
When should you not rely on them alone?
-
For self-diagnosis — false-positive results can occur due to inflammation, cysts, or even pregnancy
-
As the only method — a normal marker level does not rule out a tumour
Taking oncomarker tests unsystematically is stressful and unnecessary spending. Entrust the prescription to a specialist. The doctor will select the necessary tests and interpret them alongside other examinations.
