Equipment
Ultrasound
We use expert-grade equipment such as the Philips Affiniti 50 which exhibits high-end precision and versatility. Such equipment allows examinations in various modes: doppler ultrasound, elastography, 3D and 4D scanning.
CT-scan
In Medicentre we use the cutting edge Philips Incisive device that provides high speed and accuracy in examinations. The tomograph uses low-dose protocols, minimising radiation exposure and making the procedure safe for patients.
MRI
We use the state-of-the-art tomograph Siemens Magnetom Aera 1,5T that provides high precision and comfort for the patient. The expert-grade wide in diameter device allows to capture detailed images for an accurate diagnosis even in difficult cases.

Why does kidney function decline?

How can kidney function be improved?

Tactics depend on the cause and stage of the disease. Key areas include strict control of the underlying disease (blood sugar levels in diabetes, blood pressure in hypertension), prescription of specialized nephroprotective medications, dietary modification, weight management, and cessation of smoking and nephrotoxic substances. Complete restoration of lost function in the later stages is impossible, but modern therapy can significantly slow the progression of the disease.

What foods should be avoided?

The diet is individualized, but there are general restrictions. It is often recommended to reduce the consumption of table salt, protein foods (especially animal products), foods rich in phosphorus (dairy products, nuts, beans), and potassium (bananas, potatoes, dried fruits)—this is especially important as kidney function declines. It is important to avoid processed foods, smoked meats, and canned goods, and minimize alcohol consumption.

How much fluid should I drink?

Fluid intake is calculated individually by a doctor based on the diagnosis, stage of the disease, and the presence of edema. In some conditions (for example, late-stage CKD), fluid intake may be limited. In general, an adequate fluid intake is recommended—1.5-2 liters per day for a healthy person, unless otherwise directed by a nephrologist.

How often should I see a nephrologist?

The frequency of visits is determined by the diagnosis. Patients with established chronic kidney disease, diabetes, or hypertension are recommended to see a nephrologist at least once or twice a year. If the disease is active or if the condition changes, the doctor will schedule more frequent visits. For healthy individuals at risk over 40, a preventive examination is recommended once a year.
